Scope and Information that this Privacy Statement Covers

This Privacy Statement applies to Personal Information collected on or through websites operated by Hitachi, mobile applications, cloud-based services, or controlled widgets embedded in communication platforms with a link to this Privacy Statement (collectively, the “Site”). It also applies to Personal Information you provide directly to us when you register for an event, fill out a form, or otherwise communicate with us. It covers how we collect, use, share, and otherwise process Personal Information as of the date that this Privacy Statement is posted. It does not apply to any other information collected by Hitachi or Hitachi Group Companies through any other means. It does not apply to Hitachi Group Companies who have separate online privacy policies or statements that do not link to or incorporate this Privacy Statement. By “Personal Information,” we mean any information about an individual that identifies or can identify that individual personally, also known as personal data. It does not include information where the identity of individuals has been removed (i.e., anonymous data).

The Site contains links to third party websites, including websites of our business partners. We do not own, operate or control the websites of those third parties. Accordingly, this Privacy Statement does not apply to any websites maintained or operated by third parties for the collection, use, storage, disclosure, or other processing of your Personal Information. 1. Collection and Use of Your Personal Information
We collect your Personal Information on the Site to enhance the services we offer you, maintain and improve the Site, protect the security of you and the Site, comply with legal obligations, and inform you about other services and products that may be available through us, Hitachi Group Companies, and our marketing partners. We collect Personal Information about you when you interact with or use services offered on by us, such as:

We do not collect any special categories of Personal Information about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health, and genetic and biometric data). Moreover, we do not collect any information about criminal convictions and offenses.

Disclosures of your Personal Information.

We may share your Personal Information with the parties identified below for the purposes set forth in the table above.

  • Hitachi Group Companies.
  • External third parties, such as service providers based in the U.S. who provide IT and system administration services; professional services such as banking, legal, and insurers; and marketing, communications, public relations, and event planning and implementation services.
  • Third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer or merge parts of our business or our assets. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If such a change occurs to our business or assets, then the new owners may use your Personal Information in the same manner provided in this Privacy Statement.
4. International Transfers

While our Site is hosted on servers located in the United States, we operate our business globally. We may process, store, and transfer the Personal Information we collect, in and to a country outside your own, and some of those countries may not provide the same level of data protection as is provided in your home country. We may also share your Personal Information within or among Hitachi Group Companies in order to properly route your product or service inquiries or to permit Hitachi Group Companies to directly market their products or services to you. 5. Your Rights Concerning Your Personal Information

Under certain circumstances, you have the following rights under data protection laws, including the GDPR, in relation to your Personal Information:

  • Request access to your Personal Information (commonly known as a “data subject access request”). This enables you to receive a copy of the Personal Information we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
  • Request correction of the Personal Information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.
  • Request erasure of your Personal Information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove Personal Information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your Personal Information where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), where we may have processed your Personal Information unlawfully or where we are required to erase your Personal Information to comply with local law.   • Where our use of the data is unlawful but you do not want us to erase it.
  • Where you need us to hold the data even if we no longer require it as you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
  • You have objected to our use of your data but we need to verify whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to use it.
  • Request the transfer of your Personal Information to you or to a third party. We will provide to you, or a third party you have chosen, your Personal Information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Note that this right only applies to automated Personal Information which you initially provided consent for us to use or where we used your Personal Information to perform a contract with you.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your Personal Information. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.
  • Right to be Informed by requesting an explanation about the processing, which will detail the categories of personal data, the categories of sources from which the personal data is collected, the purposes for collecting or sharing personal data, the categories of third parties to whom HP discloses personal data, and the specific pieces of personal data HP has collected about you.
  • Right to Object to the processing of your personal data in some circumstances, including when we are using your data for direct marketing or to create a marketing profile. Please see the “Marketing Communications” section for guidance on how to exercise your rights and to manage your preferences for marketing and subscription communications. In some cases, you may also have the right to object at any time to processing personal data on the grounds of legitimate interests.
  • Right to Object Automated Decision-Making and Profiling in cases where automated decision-making and profiling occur. In such instances, HAL will take the appropriate steps to ensure it takes place as required by applicable law. Where it occurs, you may exercise your right to object to automated decision-making that would significantly affect you – including your right to obtain human intervention on our part, to express your point of view and to contest the decision, as required by local law.

  • Marketing Communications. We may use your identity, contact, technical, usage and profile data to form a view on what we think you may want or need, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we or Hitachi Group Companies decide which products, services, and offers may be relevant for you. You will receive marketing communications from us or Hitachi Group Companies if you have requested information from us or purchased products or services from us and you have not opted out of receiving such marketing communications. If you no longer wish to receive any marketing communications, remain on a mailing list to which you previously subscribed, or receive any other communication from us or Hitachi Group Companies, please follow the unsubscribe link in the relevant communications or contact us using the link at the bottom of the message. California residents have rights to request access to or deletion of their personal information.
