The role

This role reports to the Global Employee Relations and Compliance Manager. The position will provide advanced, broad-scope employee relations consultation and intervention for managers and employees. The Sr. Employee Relations Specialist will exercise discretion, sound judgment, and a high level of confidentiality in managing sensitive issues. In this role, you will use sound investigative techniques to conduct thorough, objective investigations on sensitive issues, investigate and respond to critical employee relations cases, identify trends, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.

  • Work with the Global Employee Relations and Compliance Manager of Employee Relations and HRBPs to further define and refine our ER engagement model.
  • Provide front-line Employee Relations support, thought partnership, and coaching to the HRBPs.
  • Independently conduct internal HR investigations, in collaboration with the Manager of Employee Relations and Legal as appropriate, identifying potential solutions to address different case types and proposing reasonable next steps as the subject matter expert. 
  • Provide advisement and consultation to Leaders working through investigations and employee relations matters on approach and best practices with practical implementation strategies.
  • Manage full cycle investigations and provide recommendations to critical partners, HR Business Partners, and Leadership to promote a positive work environment.
  • Identify trends and areas of concern and partner with the HR Business Partner Team and Leadership to provide guidance, solutions, actionable feedback, education, and training opportunities.
  • Compile and analyze investigation information, prepare a detailed written report, and notify the appropriate Leaders of the outcome of the investigation.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  •  Serve as a trusted and collaborative advisor in providing proactive, practical, and valued HR thought partnership to business leadership while ensuring alignment with Hitachi Vantara's core values and business initiatives.
  • Advise managers and HRBPS on disciplinary procedures and separations and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve existing processes.
  • Where necessary, engage with internal and external legal counsel to mitigate risk.
  • Make decisions guided by policies, procedures, and best practices with minimal oversight.
  • Work in partnership with L&D on training efforts related to employee relations.

 

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education required.
  • 5+ years of related human resources management/generalist experience required.
  • 5+ years of employee relations experience required.
  • An employee-focused outlook with a high level of discretion and professionalism
  • Experience working on various employee relations matters simultaneously, including performance management, investigations, disciplinary matters, and leave/accommodations concerns.
  • Experience advising leaders on employee relations concerns directly.
  • The ability to thrive in an unstructured environment and work autonomously.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Labor Relations experience is a plus but not required.
